Penny Wise Pound Foolish
Have you ever tried to save money by doing something yourself, then end up wasting your time and energy without success, and still eventually getting a professional to get it done?
Last weekend, my washing machine kept showing Error ‘OE’ when it was time to rinse. As a digital native, I know there’s always a solution for almost everything on the internet. I googled the error and found some YouTube videos on how to get it fixed. From the videos, fixing the error looked pretty simple. It was a drainage thing. I just had to open the drain and clean it up, then fix it back in.
I was going to call a repairer to fix the issue. But the explanation I saw on YouTube looked too easy. I thought to myself “I will now call someone and pay big money over this small thing. I can do it jor”
My people, that’s how I started oh. Come and see me. I unscrewed different things. I still did not find the drain the YouTube video described. I was at this for hours. I believe I even damaged more things in the process. Towards evening, I accepted defeat and called the repairer. I explained everything to him, and he fiddled with some things and announced to me that it was fixed. This man didn’t even break a sweat.
I asked him to wait while I tested the machine because I could not believe he had solved the issue that easily. Truly, the problem had been solved. At the end of the day, I still paid the money I was trying to avoid paying. I had wasted my time for nothing.
Some of you are like me. You have real estate and property management needs, but you go ahead and take on these tasks yourself. You believe you can sort yourself out without professionals. Honestly, You probably can. But remember, your time is money. How much money are you willing to pay to save your time?
